Rome By Night

We landed in Rome jet-lagged and exhausted after a crazy adventure in America. We had planned a few days to try and recover and adjust to the time difference before heading back home to normal life. However, we ended up just making use of the jet-lag rather than actually recovering from it!

We’d discovered a way to have private viewings of some of the world’s most famous landmarks. The trick was to start the tour at about 3am and end it at the first sign of other tourists arriving, which was about 8-9am. That gave us six hours to explore the quiet streets and empty monuments that you usually can’t even get close to.

It gave us a beautifully unique view of Rome. No crowds, queues, or selfie sticks. Just a few special moments with me and my wife exploring 3,000 years of globally influential art, architecture and culture.
